Transitional Jobs
The Transitional Jobs Program is all about helping you get back to work. Think of it as an internship where you get paid to work and learn. As a participant, you'll have the chance to learn valuable job skills, build your resume, and earn an employer reference when you complete the program.
Program Eligibility

ARE YOU BETWEEN THE AGES OF 21 AND 64? You must be within this age bracket to be eligible for the Transitional Jobs Program. |

|
ARE YOU A PARENT? If you are older than 25 years of age, you MUST be the biological parent, adoptive parent, or primary caregiver of a child under the age of 18. |
|
|
DO YOU EARN A LOW INCOME? You must have an annual income that is less than 150% of the federal poverty level for your household. |
|
|
ARE YOU INELIGIBLE FOR W-2 AND UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS? You must be ineligible to receive W-2 benefits and ineligible to receive Unemployment Insurance benefits to be eligible for the Transitional Jobs Program. |

|
HAVE YOU HAD INCONSISTENT EMPLOYMENT? You must have either been unemployed for the past four weeks or have had inconsistent employment in the past four weeks to be eligible for the program. |
|
ARE YOU A SOUTH CENTRAL WISCONSIN RESIDENT? The Transitional Jobs Program is only available to residents of Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Jefferson, Marquette and Sauk Counties. |

If you answered "yes" to all of the questions above, you may be eligible for the program. Your next step is to contact a Transitional Jobs representative. If you need employment assistance and do not meet the eligibility criteria above, you may apply to determine
if you are available for other WorkSmart or Job Center assistance.
How the Transitional Jobs Program Works
Complete ALL phases of orientation
- 80-hour Work Readiness Academy or 12-hour Work Readiness Workshop (selection based on experience)
- Complete all assigned orientation tasks
Demonstrate ALL aspects of work readiness during and after orientation
- Attend every day
- Be on time--all the time
- Get along with supervisors and co-workers
- Be mentally alert and physically capable to meet work requirements
- Demonstrate safe work practices
- Be productive
- Perform quality work
- Demonstrate initiative and motivation
- Demonstrate appropriate work attire, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Develop and commit to attaining long-term employment goal
Work Placement
After completion of the Orientation Phase, we'll work to match you with an available work site for up to six months.
